About Me
|
In case you hadn't guessed, my name is Leonard Weiss. I'm currently 16 years old, and live in Canberra, Australia. I go to school, and do normal school stuff - but not during the holidays, of course. What stuff do I do? Well, other than school work I compose music (which I also do in school, but I get much more freedom outside of school). I also play instruments: the Harp and the Trumpet. I also sing in our school Choir, as a Tenor. Plus, I can play the Piano (most notably Für Elise, by Beethoven), French Horn, Guitar... tons of things, really. |
About The Site
This site is here for the simple reason that it can be here. I asked about, and seeing as it wasn't too costly, I was able to get it. I had the podcast page on TheRealN (now migrated to NinjaRobotYeti), but my problem with it was that it wasn't 100% mine (silly problem, I know), plus it's nice to have a more comprehensive site. I still use this site however, because I really like the simplicity of the blog system.
Other than using this site as a means of self-expression, I can now use it to display things and keep people informed about my life, music, and other things. If you've got any questions, queries, or ideas for things which you think I've left out, please send me an email about it. I'd appreciate all suggestions that people have.
About the site itself, the domain was bought with Nearly Free Speech, who also host all of the files.
The rollover menu I got from Dynamic Drive. It is freely available, and works very well (not to mention very simple to use) - I highly recommend it.
I also give my thanks to the following people, who helped with setting up and/or coding this site: Dashiell Dunn, of maestrosync.com, and TheSeer, of theseer.org. Also, a big thanks to SouthPaw, for practically making the header image for me.
About The Leonard Weiss Podcast
The podcast began in late January 2008, and the News site was introduced in March. The news site was coded by Kevin, of NinjaRobotYeti.com, however the design and pictures were done by me.
All of the music on the podcast is composed by me, copyright under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial lisence. If you want to use any of this music for your own purposes (abiding by this lisence) you are free, however if you want to use it please let me know, because I enjoy seeing what others do with my music.
About The Tesla Coils
All Tesla Coils used in the Tesla Coil videos are made by the amazing people over at Zeusaphone.com. The recordings were filmed by them as well. The coils are duophonic, meaning they can play two notes at a time.
The Tesla Coils used in the recordings are capable of producing sparks up to 26 inches in length (about 65 cm), and stand at around the same height.
About The Leonard Weiss Blog
The blog began in the middle of 2008, and continues to be a place where I dump my accomplishments, news, thoughts, or other things that don't fit in with any of these categories. It's powered by WordPress.org (.org is for blogs on your domain, while .com is for a blog at wordpress.com), which is the simplest blog I've come across in my few years of searching. It also has a good layout and colour scheme, which is something else that I didn't find with other blog systems.
About The CGSchool Comic
The comic was originally started in late 2007. It was intended to be based on my school life, but often now it turns into peculiar, strange or random things, along with comics based on current events, or things happening around me.
The comic site was first formed in very late 2008, when I decided I should redesign the entire leonardweiss.com site, and add this comic to it (as well as a few other things).
I should also credit a few of my friends here, who helped code the comic site and the RSS feed (in all honestly they practically did it for me); without their help and assistance this site could most definitely not be what it is today. So, a big thank you to Kevin, of TheRealN.com(who coded the majority of the site), FergoFrog, of FergoFrog.com, and to DarthShrine, of blog.darthshrine.ath.cx/.
The comics themselves are almost always drawn with Adobe Flash 8 (also known as "CS2"). I use this because I prefer it for drawing comics, even over CS3 which I don't like for coding or layout. Occasionally I also use Adobe Photoshop (also CS2), Microsoft Paint, or draw the comics by hand with good ol' pens and paper.
The CGSchool comic is also featured on my school forum and the Metanet Forums.
About The Photos
The photos site was set up in mid-2009. It runs off Avocado, developed by Dashiell Dunn (of Maestrosync.com), and has undergone no modifications. All of the photos are taken by me, and all of the Doodles (though there are only a few up there) have been drawn by me also. It remains regularly updated, as long as I continue to take photos.
About The Flash Piano
This was originally developed in the middle of 2006, as my Winter Project. Every student in years 7 and 8 is required to spent 25 or more hours on a specific task (often to do with making physical objects), and as I was pretty keen on Flash at the time I decided to have a go at making something in it. Of course, since then I have made minor modification to render it properly as an online application as opposed to a sort of toy.
